A lot of people say that wind power is ugly but it is a helluva lot betta than cell towas. Sola enagy is great as well. This stuff is betta than oil.

It is too bad that they have not been developed to their capacity. It is a concept whose time has come. Nuclear energy should be another alternative to fossil fuels, however too many crazies block that. But we need to cut our independence to oil so that the oil company's do no have such a death grip on us.

and is this storage of electrical energy harmful to us in a similar way as power generated through normal measures (such as oil and coal plants - known to cause tumors and birth defects) under high tension cables/power lines? If there is a storage plant for wind energy, what's the distance from a house that's considered safe? I'd love to install a wind turbine, so i figured to ask before installation.

First, it is not as efficient to produce any type of electricity in large quantities and then store it temporarily in batteries for later use. The capital cost of installing a large windmill would increase significantly if you also had to have a battery system sized to store the output. In addition, you would lose efficiency when you then had to conert the battery power back to alternating current and the associated equipment to perform that step. Therefore, most commercial or utility owned wind farms are directly connected to the utility grid.

Second, many studies have been performed and none have proved a link between electro-magnetic fields and the conditions you refer to above. But, since you are worried about the possibility, the fields drop off significantly as you move away from the source. While I don't have the software to calculate exact results, I will simply say that if you are 300 to 500 feet from the nearest transmission line, or 50-100 feet from the average residential line, the fields generated by the line will be significantly less than those that already exist in your house.

Since you are looking for a home installation, there is no way that the fields created by the amount of energy that you produce will even come close to the fields already created in your house. Standing directly in front of your windmill system would be no different than standing in front of your dishwasher.

Also, speaking about a residential system, I read about a good idea the other day that made sense to me. Hook up the windmill up to a buried or insulated water tank. The electricity from the windmill will power the element and heat the tank. Then, the water in the tank is like your battery storage. The water can then be used to supplement the cold water going into your water heater, or, if you have enough wind, you might be able to connect it to a radiant floor heating system. There would be other ways to do this and perhaps better ways to utilize the stored heat.

Check out James Dulley's website. I've included the link below and I think this is where I saw this. He may be using solar energy in his example instead of wind. Regardless, he has other solar and wind ideas that you may find interesting.

Please describe in details how do the whole mechanisms work? How it is developed? What apparatus is required? How the wind turbine is constructed and how it works? Explain me all questions by using 3d figures or images or video if available. Please guide me in the easiest way as much as possible; I want to make electricity for my home by using wind power or wind turbines what should I do? How can I achieve or construct it myself?

It goes back to the concept of a current carrying conductor cutting the lines of flux in a magnetic field, just like any other generator rotated by any prime mover.

I need to make a project and submit it as fast as i can….i need full info on any wind power plant for example the suzlon one in gujarat will do…or ne plant anywhere in da world…plz plz reply fast…!

Wind is simple air in motion. It is caused by the uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun. Since the earth’s surface is made of very different types of land and water, it absorbs the sun’s heat at different rates.

During the day, the air above the land heats up more quickly than the air over water. The warm air over the land expands and rises, and the heavier, cooler air rushes in to take its place, creating winds. At night, the winds are reversed because the air cools more rapidly over land than over water.

In the same way, the large atmospheric winds that circle the earth are created because the land near the earth's equator is heated more by the sun than the land near the North and South Poles.

Today, wind energy is mainly used to generate electricity. Wind is called a renewable energy source because the wind will blow as long as the sun shines.

I graduated from college 2 years ago, and my degree has proven mostly useless.

I'm 25, and would like to somehow work for a power company maintaining wind turbines. I like the green renewable aspect of it all. Any ideas on how to get a job in the industry?

I assume you googled for power companies that have wind machines. So contact their personnel department and see what they have to offer.

The google wind machine manufactures, contact them.

Consider returning to college to study wind turbines. You didn't say what your degree was in but if you go into an MA program you will be in the forefront of machine development and will have contacts in industry and management.

If you primary interest is maintaining them, you should find companies that do that and see if they need a trainee.

There is more than one wind farm in the US and there are many small operators.

i.e. if there were millions of small miniature fans that are used in wind power were on the car; could the car be powered by them?

The more practical solution to use wind to power a car isn't with small fans, but with big ones - at least for the time being. Large wind turbines generate electricity, which can be stored in a battery. That battery could be your car's battery (direct) or it could be used to charge your car's battery system (indirect).
That's probably the most likely wind-powered car in the near future.

I was wondering How Can I Build a Wind Power Windmill?

Take a bicycle wheel without tyre. Make it horizontally in its axiel. Connect sum bigger size funel about 4 or six in its outer surface. Make it to rotate it in the wind.Use a cycle dinamo or any other small d.c motor or generator to fix in it. When the wheel rotates you get electricity power.

I neeeed to know who are some major people or orginazations or whatever that encourage and advocate wind energy usage/ wind power???

It has its’ place but is noisy and not overly efficient. I advocate less greed in the use of power. Here in england they are forcing us to be greener yet the big city companies leave thousands of watts of lighting burning day and night. We will never meet the requirements of the whole world at the levels we use power now so must reduce what we all use then provide as much of our power from the most reliable and least toxic sources.
Gas turbines are the best we have at the moment for efficiency vs pollution so we need to be generating gas from waste and using that as primary source where possible then supplementing with wind, wave, solar geothermal and any other technology we can find but not nuclear until the science can deal with the waste.

I will repeat my call for reduction of energy use as the only long term solution.

Which one is easier to install on a house: solar power system or wind power system?

Simplest, cheapest, greenest and most effective way is to insulate, stop all the drafts, and reduce your use of electricity.

They reckon that if you are OK at DIY you should be able to fit solar panels yourself. We got our solar panels from ttp://www.navitron.org.uk/ the company was fantastic, if you are installing yourself they will help you with working out what you need to buy for optimum results. You need to apply for building regs. They are extremely heavy to maneuver and be prepared the tubes are very delicate so can smash if you move them. Navitron solar panels are now on Clearskies register http://www.clear-skies.org/households/RecognisedProducts.aspx?intTechnologyID=24
so you can apply for a grant if it is installed for you.

Usually, to get a wind turbine big enough to be efficient, you do not have the option of installing it yourself. Wind turbines are great but prohibitively expensive still. The smaller ones are a lot cheaper but don't produce anywhere enough energy so are still not cost effective for example the B&Q one http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=wind+turbine&selected=products&x=0&y=0
