The government of Philippines is planning to invest nearly 40.6 billion USD for the development of renewable energy sources, production of fossil fuel and will boost other main sectors of Philippines. Jose Rene D. Almendras, the Energy Secretary in the Infrastructure Philippines 2010 asserted that, the energy investment rendered by the Philippines government is essential for establishing the energy security, developing a durable energy platform and achieving best pricing. The lion’s share of the energy investment will be used development of the biomass, solar, wind, ocean and geothermal energy sources of Philippines. The document revealed by the government of Philippines portrayed that, the country has ample geothermal sources to produce more than thousand megawatts of energy, copious biomass reserves and large solar power plants. Philippines can produce 170,000 and 76,600 megawatt of energy from the ocean energy and wind power facilities respectively. The country will continue their joint ventures with the existing energy contractors and will welcome foreign energy investors.
The United States Interior Department is expecting to grant new offshore wind leases by the end of 2011 to the Atlantic and this lease will be furnished, after getting reviews from the federal waters and with several coastal states. Ken Salazar, the Secretary of the Interior Department articulated that, the department will quest for wind energy areas which are suitable for offshore development, perform reviews on the environment, ameliorate the relationship with the local people and will request the federal agencies, to provide approval for the leases at the earliest. The Interior Department formed a ‘Smart from the Start ‘programme, this will help for the successful functioning of the Bureau of Land Management and will help for studying the potential of the solar powers and the environmental impacts caused to the on federal lands in the Southwest.
Allendale County in the South Carolina, will receive 50 million USD as energy investment from a reputed renewable energy company, to perform new projects for the next five years and produce many employment opportunities. Raine Cotton, the chief executive officer and the President phrased that, the Southeast Renewable Energy is working in a diligent manner to complete the permission phase and it will embark on the installation phase from 2011. Southeast Renewable Energy, in Allendale County will construct a 15 megawatt biomass energy plant and this plant will be fuelled by the timber residues and will be completed by the end of 2012. Official involved in this venture expects that, this new project will form many indirect jobs such as trucking, logging and enhance the forest product industries.
