Renewable Energy News Reports 20% of Energy From Alternative Sources

According to the Renewables 2010 Global Status Report, renewable energy is finally tipping the scale toward a positive impact on global energy sources. About one quarter of total energy production is now renewable with sights set on producing even more power from renewing sources in the future. Despite a lax economy, production of alternative electricity continued to grow throughout 2009 and companies are starting to see the significant impact globally.

How Important is Alternative Energy to Global Initiatives for Renewing Power?

Trends are an important means of gauging just how important auxiliary sources of energy are to the world. Renewable energy news report a rise in areas, including a 100-fold increase in grid-connected solar photovoltaic systems since 2000. Between 2004 and 2009, even more growth was noted with wind energy production increasing 27%, solar water heating increasing 19% and ethanol production increasing 20%.

Westernized Countries Are Not Always to Thank

Many renewable energy news readers would attribute these advances to westernized countries, but that would be incorrect. Developing nations are responsible for at least 50% of the countries with government policies in place concerning alternative energy production. These same countries hold more than 50% of the production power for alternative energy.

What Does the Future Hold?

When westernized and developing countries get together and agree on a central policy on alternative electricity, it will make renewable energy news. Until then, advocates of these trending energy changes will continue to fight for more Switchgrass ethanol, solar panel fields and wind turbine farms.Other potential sources of power include algae, dried leaves and kinetic power.
